Greening Australia has established a number of large-scale revegetation projects across the country in regions of high biological significance. The Gondwana Link in Western Australia is just one example of a key project that we have underway. Our success in this area demonstrates the effectiveness of our vegetation management strategies and the capacity we have to work at a global scale.

As the richest biological corner in Australia, the Gondwana Link is part of the only registered 'International Biodiversity Hotspot' in the country and holds the earliest fossil traces of life on Earth. Visible from space, this is an area that supports 8000 different plant species, 50% of which are found nowhere else in the world.

This area was decimated by wheat farming from the early 1950s and much of the land is now unsuitable for farming due to salinity and erosion. Together with its partner Bush Heritage Australia, Greening Australia has acquired a number of large properties in the area for protection and mass native vegetation planting. Chereninup and Nowanup were the first properties purchased and are now almost fully repaired and planted, as are more recent purchases called Yarrabee and Monjebup. Peniup is the latest acquisition and large areas need urgent restoration.

As a supporter of Breathe Easy you will be helping to protect and foster thousands of species of native wildlife and plants, while restoring the ecological 'link' stretching from Kalgoorlie to the Karri. Your support will help the project in its initial focus of planting trees to connect two areas of extraordinary biological diversity - the Stirling Ranges and the Fitzgerald River National Parks on the central south coast.
